MSI USB Speed Up promises to boost data transfer speeds from your MSI motherboard to any device connected via a USB port.

It is specifically intended to increase the performance of USB 3.1 ports but it works with other USB generations as well. In addition to increasing speed, the utility can also decrease power consumption by connected devices as well.

The tool has an extremely straightforward and unobtrusive interface. In this respect, it runs from the System Tray and can be set to start automatically with the system. Its window shows a list of all the connected devices and, if data are being transferred, it also shows the Read and Write speeds at the moment. In any case, there is the only thing you can do, which is turning the speed boost on or off. The tool is reported to increase speeds by up to 30%, but that also depends on other conditions, such as the type of USB device.

All in all, MSI USB Speed Up can actually help you take advantage of having a 3.1 USB port on an MSI motherboard. The product is free and frequently distributed along with the hardware. As seen, the utility only works for MSI motherboards, specifically X99 y Z170. However, the thing is that some motherboards by other manufacturers may not need it. In this respect, USB 3.1 benchmarking studies have shown that ASUS motherboards, for instance, perform much better than those by MSI.

Pros

  • Increases transfer speeds in up to 30%

It's common for drivers/fw/sw they make for their hw, to only works with those, not sure how that is any different with Asus/Asrock/Gb and others, And receives a neg point for it. It's not like msi advertised/stated this to work for other brands.
